Located in the hills of East Texas, in the center of Cass County, our Vineyard offers people the opportunity to "pick-your-own" muscadines. For years, these native American grapes (vitis rotundifolia) have been favorites for making jellies, jams, wines, and pies!
The vineyard was planted where the O'Farrell, Texas, post office was located and operated from 1886 until 1905. The barn where the "U-Pick-Em" is operated was built from the salvaged lumber from the old 2-room O'Farrell school house. Thus, the name: "O'Farrell Country Vineyards"!
The first acre of muscadines was planted in February, 2006, and was first opened for pickin' on September 1, 2008. We now have 14 varieties of muscadines to choose from. Their names are Sweet Jenny, Rosa, Darlene, Ison, Black Fry, Cowart, Black Beauty, Carlos, Bronze Fry, Supreme, Noble, Hunt, Nesbit, and Sugargate.
This year we are open for picking from August 13 thru September 10 (OPEN ON THURSDAYS, FRIDAYS, AND SATURDAYS).
Hours are 8:00 A.M. - 7:00 P.M. DUE TO THE EXTREME HOT WEATHER THIS YEAR, THE GRAPES GOT RIPE EARLY AND WE ARE ALREADY "PICKED OUT". SEE YOU NEXT YEAR FOR MORE PICKING.
NOTE: OUR WINERY IS NOW OPEN FRIDAYS AND SATURDAYS FROM 11:00 A.M. TILL 7:00 P.M. SEE YOU THERE!
We sell by the pound... cash or checks only (No Credit Cards). We have plenty of buckets for picking so just come on down and take some grapes home!
WE WILL SEE YOU IN THE VINEYARD!!
